About
A plain account of what this is, who it belongs to, and why it costs nothing.
This is free. Not free for now, not free with an upgrade, and not free in exchange for your attention or your data. Free.
This edition is not ours
The script, the layout and the tajwid colouring in these pages are the work of the publisher of this edition, and all rights in it remain entirely theirs. This project has not altered the text in any way. What has been built here is a way to read their work, nothing more.
This copy is shared on the condition that no sale or income is derived from it. That condition is the reason there are no advertisements and no paid tier, and it is not a preference that could change later. The terms are set out here.
No money changes hands
- No advertising, anywhere, ever.
- No paid version, no subscription and nothing held back.
- No sponsorship, no donations collected and no income of any kind.
- Entirely self funded and privately run.
It keeps your place, and your days
It opens where you left off, keeps any page you mark, and tracks a khatm at whatever pace you set. It also keeps a record of the days you read and what you read on them, so you can look back over a month or a year of your own reading. That is on to begin with and can be turned off, and deleted, under Your reading.
All of it can be written to a single file you keep, and opened again later on any device.
Nothing is collected
There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no third party code of any kind. Everything you mark lives on your own device.
Your reading, on every device you read on
Most people read on a phone and sometimes on something larger. An account means your ribbon, your bookmarks, your notes and your khatm are the same on both: you put a phone down mid page and pick a laptop up on the same one. It also means that losing a phone does not lose years of your own notes.
It is free, and it is optional. Signing in is your email address and a six digit code, so there is no password to remember or to lose. What is held is that address and the marks themselves, so your devices can share them. They are not sold, not shared, not advertised against, and nobody reads them. You can take a copy of everything at any time, and deleting your account removes all of it at once. The full detail is on the privacy page.
The recitations
Each recitation is the reciter's own, shared freely by the people who host it. Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Mohamed Siddiq Al-Minshawi and Maher Al Muaiqly come from EveryAyah. Abdur Rahman As-Sudais and Saud Ash-Shuraim come from mp3quran, cut into single ayahs for this app. With thanks to both, and to the reciters.
Why it exists
It was made to be useful to people who read this Quran, and offered seeking the pleasure of Allah. That is the whole of it. If it helps somebody keep to their reading, it has done what it was for.
